NFC South rivals clash in the first of two Monday Night Football games tonight as Bryce Young and the Panthers host the Saints. Young’s receiving corps is short on star power, which explains why he targeted his running backs and tight ends so frequently in Week 1, which something we’ll look to for our MNF Saints vs Panthers props.

MNF Prop #1: Miles Sanders Over 11.5 Receiving Yards

That’s because the Panthers offensive line is very underwhelming. They allowed the fifth most hurries in Week 1, watching Young take four QB hits and two sacks. The Saints defense is fresh off a three sack performance of their own, blitzing on more than 30% of their defensive snaps.

A similar game plan from New Orleans against a raw quarterback like Young is likely. As a result, expect the number one pick to get the ball out quickly. He targeted Sanders six times against the Falcons last week, and Chuba Hubbard an additional two times.

That gave the Panthers RBs a 26% target share, and given how Sanders outsnapped Hubbard 44-28, we can expect him to get the majority of the running back looks again in Week 2. It also doesn’t hurt that the Panthers are 3-point underdogs, making it likely they’ll have to throw more to keep up.

Sticking with the Carolina side of this matchup as we’re looking to fade Adam Thielen. The 33-year-old saw just two short area targets against the Falcons, and isn’t the type of receiver to make a big play after the catch.

To make matters worse, Young’s average yards per attempt was 3.8 in his debut per the Saints vs Panthers picks. New Orleans’ corners led by Marshon Lattimore are also a problem for Thielen, as they’re a highly talented group that held Tennessee receivers to less than 140 yards last week.
