Jets’ Sputtering with Hellebyuck
After stealing Game 1 in Colorado by a wild 7-6 score, the Jets have dropped the last two games to fall behind 2-1 in the series. Their offense has sputtered, scoring only four total goals in the 5-2 Game 2 loss and 6-2 Game 3 defeat.
Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, a Vezina Trophy odds candidate in the regular season, has struggled mightily against the potent Avalanche attack. Through three games, Hellebuyck has an abysmal .871 save percentage and bloated 5.05 goals against average. He’s allowed 15 goals on 116 shots faced.
In 3 playoff games @NHLJets Connor Hellebuyck:
1. Faced the most shots (116).
2. Has the lowest goals saved above expected (-4.89) of any goalie (min 2 gm), only one below -4.0.
3. Is slightly better (-4.4) than Georgiev (-5.36) in save % vs. expected.

The Jets defense hasn’t provided much support either, ranking 14th out of the 16 playoff teams in expected goals against per 60 minutes.
For the Jets to have any chance of evening the series, they need a much better performance from Hellebuyck in net. The Avalanche have scored five or more goals in every game, and it’s unrealistic to expect the Jets to match that offensive output. Hellebuyck needs to outduel Georgiev, who has been very good in the last two games.
Avs Finding Their Game
Since dropping Game 1 in overtime, the Avalanche have dominated the last two contests, outscoring Winnipeg 11-4. Their relentless offensive attack has overwhelmed the Jets, piling up 40 or more shots in each of the last two games.
In Game 3, Colorado exploded for five goals in the third period to break open a 2-1 game and cruise to the 6-2 victory. Goaltender Alexandar Georgiev has settled down after a shaky Game 1, stopping 50 of 54 shots (.926 save percentage) in Games 2 and 3.
Colorado boasts incredible forward depth and talent. Nathan MacKinnon remains one of the NHL’s elite players, tallying 42 goals and 69 assists in the regular season. Mikko Rantanen led the team with 55 goals and 50 assists. They’ve continued their impressive play in the postseason.

Injury Report
For the Jets, Brenden Dillon is questionable after suffering a cut on his hand in Game 3. The Avalanche have no major injuries to report.
Jets vs Avs Game 4 Prediction
Given the Avalanche’s home dominance, Hellebuyck’s struggles, and Colorado’s clear edge in offensive firepower, the pick here is the Avalanche -1.5 puck line at +150 odds. Colorado has won the last two games by at least three goals and nine of their last 11 wins overall have come by multiple goals.
Unless Hellebuyck can completely turn around his play, the Avalanche should be able to win this one comfortably on home ice and take a commanding 3-1 series lead.
The over 6.5 total goals is also an enticing play, as these teams have combined for at least seven goals in every game so far.
